Slovakia, officially the Slovak Republic, is a country in Central Europe bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary and Austria to the south, the Czech Republic being its northwest neighbor.
Slovakia's territory is as huge with 49 000 square kilometers and is mostly mountainous. The population is over 5.6 million and consists mostly of ethnic Slovaks. The capital and largest city is Bratislava, and the second-largest city is Košice. The official language is Slovak.
